Free Quick-Service Dining at Value Resorts

If you love Disney's Value Resorts as much as our family does, book your Fall vacation now and get the Quick-Service Dining Plan for FREE! Here are the details:

  • Book a five-night vacation package at a Disney Value Resort for travel between Sept. 29 and Nov. 24 or between Nov. 29 and Dec. 17. (You guessed it: Thanksgiving weekend is not included.)
  • Include the five-day Magic Your Way base ticket for everyone in your group.
  • And you all get the Quick-Service Dining Plan at no additional cost!

What's Included in the Quick-Service Dining Plan?

Quick-Service Dining is a new dining plan introduced in 2009. Here's what each person staying in your Disney hotel room receives for each night of your stay:

  • Two counter-service meals, including entrée, dessert and beverage.
  • Two snacks, such as pastries, chips, ice cream or bottled juice.
  • Refillable mug that can be used at your resort food court or counter-service restaurant.

The regular cost is $30/day for adults and $9/day for children age 3-9. Your credits are good only at participating counter-service or quick-service locations. Because the cost of the Quick-Service Plan is about the same as paying cash for your meals, I don't normally recommend it... but when it's free, who can pass it up?

By the way, I much prefer the FREE Quick-Service Dining Plan to the FREE Disney Dining Plan. You don't have to make dining reservations to take avantage of your dining credits, which means more flexibility in the parks. And there are so many different counter-service restaurants, we can always find something nice to eat.

How to Book

My friends Joe and Liz at Dream Come True Vacations can help you book this special offer. Like all Disney special offers, availability is limited. Officially, the last day to book this offer is Sept. 26, but I suggest making your reservations ASAP. The earlier you book, the more likely you'll get your preferred travel dates!

Free Dining for Fall Travel to Disney World!

Shrimp and asparagus dinner at Tony's Town Square Restaurant at Disney's Magic Kingdom. One of the best special offers ever available at Disney World is back! Free dining!

Here's the background. Disney offers a special add-on for its vacation packages called the Disney Dining Plan. For $40/day per adult and $11/day per child (age 3-9), you get one counter-service meal, one table-service meal and one snack for each night of your Disney hotel stay. Normally, my opinion is that the Dining Plan is a good deal only if you would normally eat (on average) one table-service meal a day.

(Fine print: the Dining Plan can only be added to vacation packages that include your Disney hotel room and theme park tickets. Everyone has to have the same tickets, and all have to participate in the Dining Plan. Here's a PDF file with all the Disney Dining Plan details.)

Our family usually prefer counter-service dining... to save time as much as anything. So the Dining Plan usually isn't a good deal for our family.

So here's the good news: Every fall for the past few years, Disney has offered the Dining Plan for free! And it's back for 2009! That's right. You can get two meals and a snack each day of your vacation if you book a five-night, six-day Disney World vacation (or longer) for no extra charge.

Disney's fine print:

  • Must be booked between March 30 and June 21, 2009
  • Offer available for most nights August 16-October 3, 2009
  • Minimum three-night stay in a Disney World hotel, with at least one-day Magic Your Way theme park tickets.
  • Can be upgraded to the Deluxe Dining Plan or Dining with Wine or Deluxe Dining with Wine package for an additional fee.
  •  Not available on all nights
  • Cannot be combined with any other discounts, such as group rates

My pointers:

  • The sooner you book, the more likely you are to get your preferred travel dates.
  • Reservations are highly recommended table-service dining. To make sure you can take advantage of all of your entitlements, be sure to make dining reservations beginning 90 days before your travel date!
  • Budget for tips, which aren't included in the Dining Plan.
  • Our family stretches our credits by using the snack option for breakfast and by splitting counter-service meals. We also prefer to eat the table-service meal for lunch, since it's sooooo filling!

So if you've been thinking about a Disney World vacation, now's the time to book. You can book online or through my favorite travel agents, Joe and Liz at Dream Come True Vacations.

Now... time for me to contact Joe and book my fall Disney World vacation!

Two Free Nights at Disneyland

While Mouse Map is all about Disney World, I love being able to pass along tips for Disneyland too... and here's a really good one!

Book three nights at Disneyland on selected dates through the Disney Travel Company or an affiliated travel agent, and your family will get two more nights for free -- including hotel room and theme park tickets! This offer is good for travel from April 1 through September 26, 2008.

The fine print says that you have to book by August 11, but trust me -- the longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to find the travel dates you want! So contact my friends Joe or Liz at Dream Come True Vacations today to get all the details and make your reservations.

Just in case you're wondering, I strongly recommend a Disneyland vacation for families with small children and those who might be intimidated by the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The two Disneyland parks -- that's Disneyland itself and Disney's California Adventure -- are more compact and in easy walking distance to many hotels.

So if you've been thinking about a trip to Disneyland, this is one of the best offers around. Got any more questions? Post them here or contact Dream Come True Vacations.

Mail Order Tickets For Military Families

From a news release posted today on the US Marine Corp Public Affairs web site:

Retired and active military personnel are now able to purchase these specially priced tickets over the phone.

"Many military families don't live near a base. We wanted to make sure they were able to take advantage of the savings on Disney Theme Park tickets without having to travel for hours to their nearest base," said Randy Gerber, Disney Military Sales director.
