For many guests, the first step in planning their vacation is buying a book full of touring guides. My suggestion is to try something else first -- Find out what everyone in your traveling group wants from their vacation.

• Do they prefer everything planned or more spontaneous?
• Do they count every penny or worry about the cost when they get the bill?
• Do they prefer four-star hotels or just a bed to lay their head in?
• Fine dining or grab-n-go?
• Early morning or late night?
• Roller coasters or kiddie rides?
• Theater or sunbathing?

Make a list of what is important to everyone in your group. Make sure that you agree on what's important. When you know that, it will make planning the rest of your vacation easy and fun!
